Welcome Back! (Principal’s Letter to Parents)

Dear SPA family,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 academic year!

I hope you are all doing well, staying safe, and making healthier adjustments to life. We at SPA are excited and looking forward to the new school year even though many aspects of our daily operations will be different.

As anticipated, we know that some may have safety concerns or even anxieties regarding the return to school for you child this September. I would like to assure you that we are doing and will do everything we can to maintain a safe school and will put our best efforts into providing a predictable, safe and happy environment for everyone.

In maintaining the Covid-19 protocols we have expanded all classrooms and have built two new ones. Hand washing stations have been installed at both entrances and temperature checks will be carried out twice daily. Furniture were sanitized and rearranged to create rooms with 3ft – 5ft social distancing between seats. Regular hand washing and cleaning routines have also been established in all classes with staff taking on additional responsibilities and cleaners working additional hours.

Practical subject areas such as P.E. and Information Technology have been modified to minimize sharing of equipment and, where this is not possible, cleaning of equipment between use.

Unfortunately, large whole school events such as assemblies, food fairs and other fundraisers will not take place during the upcoming term. We will also be restricting visitors and will be holding any necessary meetings via virtual platforms.

I would like to urge you to help us prevent the virus from entering the school, therefore please note the following protect and prevent measures:

· Do not send your child to school if they are unwell

· Ensure your child wears a mask in the school transport

· If your child is suspected of having the virus whist at school, you will need to come and collect them from school immediately

· Teach your child to stay safe and alert when they are not in school by observing social distancing and good hygiene measures.

We are excited to get the new school year underway! Despite the changes, we can’t wait to get back into our classrooms and begin!

Stay safe and we’ll see you soon

Maurissa Percival BSc. M.Ed.
